What is a JDM engine?The difference between a JDM engine and a used engine is the mileage of a JDM is almost always less then 50,000 miles and these are taken out of good running vehicles. In Japan they have strict emissions laws and most cars are sold or parted out with less than 50,000 miles. Most Japanese drivers have their engine changed or purchase a new vehicle after 40,000 miles or less. Because of Import tariffs the cars cannot be sold to the U.S. at a realistic price so the cars are "Clipped" in half and imported as used parts. When you purchase a used engine from the domestic USA market, most of the time it is because it was experiencing mechanical failure and needs to be rebuilt before it can be used. JDM engines are taken out of perfectly good running vehicles after about 40,000 miles. Here in the U.S. engines are driven for as much as 200,000 miles. When you purchase a JDM engine you are purchasing a low mileage, well maintained, good running engine. When you purchase a used non imported engine you just never know what you are going to get!
